Josip Skoko (Australia)

Club: Wigan Athletic, England

Position: Midfielder

A creative midfielder possessing deft passing ability and fine ball control, Josip Skoko is a box-to-box player who can pop up in the opposition's penalty area and hit the back of the net.

He was the first Australian to captain an overseas team to a domestic championship with Belgian's Genk, before moving to Turkish club Gencerlerbirgli. Joined English Premiership newcomers Wigan Athletic in summer 2005 but spent the second half of the 2005/05 season on loan at Stoke City.

His cracking 25-metre shot in Australia’s win over Mexico was one of the goals of the 2001 FIFA Confederations Cup and he scored another in the competition against Germany in the 2005 edition.
