A defender able to play stopping or sweeping roles, the experienced Tony Popovic provides a calm head in central defence. He also brings good distribution skills and an aerial threat at set-pieces.

Popovic played for J-League club Sanfreece Hiroshima before signing for English side Crystal Palace. 'Poppa' represented Australia at the 1987 FIFA U-17 World Championship and 1991 FIFA World Youth Championship before making his senior international debut against Colombia in 1995.
