A defender renowned for his rugged tackling, Lucas Neill can fill any role in the backline. His pace, passing and link play can also see him push up into midfield if necessary.

He has formed a good partnership on the right with fellow Socceroo Brett Emerton at English Premier League club Blackburn Rovers.

His best performances for Australia were as a central defender in the 2006 FIFA World Cup™ play-offs against Uruguay. He played in the 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup and the 1997 FIFA World Youth Championship.
