A clever and creative winger, Emerton has become a mainstay of the Australia side since 2001 and was named Oceania Player of the Year in 2002.

He played a prominent role on the right flank as his club Feyenoord won the 2002 UEFA Cup before joining English side Blackburn Rovers in July 2003.

A member of Australia's 2001 and 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup squads, he made his senior international debut against Chile in 1998 and captained the Socceroos at the 2000 Olympic Football Tournament.
