Chelsea are willing to offer Bayern Munich Florent Malouda in a deal that they hope will see Franck Ribery arrive at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are reported to be interested in Ribery despite the Frenchman having only signed for Bayern Munich last summer.
The Frenchman has been enjoying a great season with the German side who could potentially win a league and UEFA Cup double this season.
However Chelsea are apparently keen to add Ribery to their ranks, having also been reportedly interested last summer before he opted for a move to Munich instead.
Whilst Bayern would be reluctant to see Ribery leave, Chelsea feel that a swap deal involving Florent Malouda and a fee of around £10 million might prove attractive.
Despite signing Malouda last summer from Lyon for a fee of £13.5 million the Frenchman has had a disappointing first season at Stamford Bridge.
Although he scored on his Premier League debut, he hasn’t managed another league goal since and has managed only 14 league starts all season.
The Chelsea hierarchy have been critical in recent weeks over the perceived lack of flair in the current side and the addition of Ribery would certainly bring some flair and creativity to Stamford Bridge.
Whether Ribery can be persuaded to quit Munich for London where he has enjoyed a successful first season remains to be seen. Chelsea are facing an interesting summer with Avram Grant’s tenure as manager far from secure, despite the fact his side are now level at the top of the Premier League and on the cusp of reaching a Champions League final.
Furthermore, if rumours are to be believed, the manager might not be the only high profile departure from the club this season with a number of players also reported to be heading for the Stamford Bridge exit.
