QUEENSLAND Roar debutant striker Tahj Minniecon slotted home the first goal of his professional career on Sunday, when the club beat South African side Supersport United 4-1 in a pre-season charity match at Suncorp Stadium.
The 18-year-old Queenslander is hoping to be included in Frank Farina’s squad this week, when they travel to north to play the Capricorn Cougars in Rockhampton for Saturday, and says he is confident his weekend performance could put him in the frame.
“I was happy with my first game on Sunday and pleased with the goal, but I think I could’ve done better if I hadn’t been so nervous,” said Minniecon.
“Obviously with it being my first game, I was a bit nervous, but I think next time I play I’ll have a bit more of a feel for it. I’d like to get a bit more playing time when we play up in Rockhampton this week and hopefully I can score a few more goals, and push my way into the team.
“Hopefully I’m making a good impression on [Roar Coach Frank Farina]; I think scoring the goal on Sunday obviously would have helped, but now I’ve got to keep working on the basics and prove myself.”
